   • Apply liberal lubrication on nuts, washers, and threads for even torque and a consistent seal.
   • Never exceed the manufacturer’s torque limits; fasteners at full torque store significant energy.

3. Torque Procedure

   • Initial: Torque to 130 ft-lb before the first startup.
   • Hot Retorque: After reaching operating temp, retorque while the engine is warm.
   • Check Valve Lash: Gasket compression changes valve lash; readjust as needed.
