Compare our 1.45-inch replacement tappets with the DLC-coated steel option. Match the tappet to your camshaft, valve springs and engine application, and follow the cam’s oil and break-in requirements.
The replacement tappets have a larger contact face than the older 1.1-inch design and clear the 12-valve fuel pump eccentric. Check the engine years in the product listing; diameter alone does not confirm fitment.
DLC-coated steel tappets
The DLC-coated steel tappets are listed for high-RPM applications with 110 lb or heavier valve springs. Confirm that the camshaft and spring combination calls for this option.
Replacing a cam or converting a valvetrain
Our cam listings recommend new lifters when changing a camshaft. A roller-to-flat-tappet conversion needs the matched parts specified for the conversion kit. Review those instructions before buying individual components.
Oil choice, break-in and valve lash remain part of the installation. Follow the requirements for your exact cam or kit, and contact Hamilton Cams if you need help matching the parts.
