These 1.45-inch tappets provide a larger contact face than the older 1.1-inch design and clear the 12-valve fuel pump eccentric. Check the engine years listed below and match the tappets to your camshaft; follow your cam’s oil and break-in requirements.
This 178/208 combo brings together the camshaft, heavy-duty pushrods, 103 lb valve springs and tappets for 1998.5–2018 24-valve Cummins engines. The grind is aimed at low-RPM response; installation still requires the clearance checks and break-in procedure below.
